It is my great pleasure to invite you for the first solo exhibition in Anna25 Gallery. “The Big Awakening” of Thai Ho Pham will be inaugurated with 25-hours-long vernissage starting at 9 a.m. on 28th of February.

Thai Ho Pham combines in his works old painting traditions with modern means of expression in order to give his art completely new values.

Thai Ho Pham, German artist of Vietnamese origin, presents works from his series “Cycle of Banality”. The main subjects of the series are daily routines such as beauty treatments, dreams, shopping sprees or even toilet visits (see: “Denkpause”) raised by the artist to the level of art. By alienating usual activities from daily life and combining them with symbols from art and tattoo world, works of the artist gain a fresh meaning and can be perceived from a different perspective.

The artist is inspired by the new media and this constitutes a significant distinction between his art and the idea of ready-mades. Spontaneously shot mobile phone pictures are enhanced by the artist: printed on canvas and re-handled with oil mixed method. It remains unclear for the viewer what was printed and what was painted.

The artist skillfully welds together different esthetics, arts and crafts. He also breaks with the tradition of white canvas showing that an artist does not have to create his work on a blank canvas, but he might as well rework an inspiring existing object and create out of it something completely different.
