Raymond Gantner experiments intensively with various media and techniques. Machine art is not foreign to him: he uses different printing techniques to give his paintings a special touch.
In the exhibition ‘Man and his Machine’, Gantner artistically explores current technological advancements. Using a robot, he has the images painted on canvas. He has previously created the templates himself and coded them in a way the machine can understand. However, the actual act of painting is no longer performed by the artist’s hand.
What does the artist’s hand mean in a digital and technological era like today? How important is craftsmanship? Where does art end and artificial intelligence begin? These questions are at the heart of the exhibition.
The works also reflect the contemporary spirit and address the question of the purpose of technological development. They explore whether technological progress is always positive or if it can also bring disadvantages.
